Our Prime Minister is running amuck

In so many areas of Harper's reign he is showing only concern with the bottom line ... He is not listening to the great numbers of Canadians who do not agree with his vision, or perhaps it is more of his lack of vision for Canada. Not only is he not listening but using dismissive and disrespectful tactics to negate anyone who opposes what he sees as the way. I have never been ashamed to be Canadian but I am saddened that this is who we have at the helm. I have a strong feeling that soon, a scandal will be revealed regarding Harper and it will not be one that can be negated or kept hidden. A scandal of Watergate levels that will see his removal from his position. I will celebrate that day... and I don't think I will be alone in that celebration...

In the meantime, we can speak up about something that involves us all...follow link below to let our government know that there are great numbers who do not support the proposed Enbridge pipeline

One has to wonder about a Prime Minister who is so focused on destroying the beautiful land he is positioned to govern rather than working diligently to protect one of our greatest resources ~our environment. He must be blinded by money to not see there are other ways for this country to move forward.

Hi Michele,

A couple of weeks ago we asked you to spread the word about the No Tankers petition after Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver launched a public relations offensive to discredit and silence Canadians opposed to Enbridge’s oil pipeline and supertanker project.

Since then, we have received more than 20,000 new signatures on our No Tankers petition and Enbridge’s oil tanker plan was national news for days on end. Thank you — this couldn’t have happened without your efforts!

Last week Prime Minister Stephen Harper entered the fray, claiming “foreigners” were “hijacking” the review process because they want to make Canada “one giant national park.” Once again, shock reverberated around the country and we received a flood of calls and e-mails from supporters asking what they could do.

In response, we’ve joined with democracy group Lead Now to let Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver know that attempts to silence us will only make us louder.

The federal government is using a misleading smear campaign to not only discredit Canadians concerned by the Enbridge’s oil tanker plans, but also to distract the thousands of people who are learning about this issue for the first time.

Despite the massive public outcry, Oliver shows no signs of backing down. Just two days ago he ramped up the rhetoric during a speech in Calgary, claiming “abuse” by groups opposed to development of oil projects, accusing them of “gaming” the review process.

Please consider sending a message to Minister Oliver and your MP. Let’s speak out against these bullying PR tactics, and put the focus back where it belongs: stopping a reckless oil tanker and pipeline proposal that First Nations have already banned.

For the coast,

Eric, Emma, Celine, Erika and Karl

http://dogwoodinitiative.org/This is so true, Michele and thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion.

From Rose ~

It would seem that there must be other ways to approach the Enbridge scenario without putting our beloved and irreplaceable environment
in jeopardy.

How about refining the bitumen in Canada? This would provide many more long lasting jobs for Canadians and WE would benefit from OUR
natural resource plus supply our own manufacturing companies with the necessary oil to keep Canadians employed.

Steven Harper would have us ship the bitumen to China and buy it back in the form of over-priced products. This keeps the Chinese people employed
and their economy booming but what about our economy? These economic "quick fix" strategies being promoted by Steven Harper have to be reviewed
closely and the Canadian people must have their say!

When the plan involves crossing pristine country with a pipeline and navigating the BC Coast with oil tankers, there is too much at stake.
The Spirit Bear, the Coastal Wolf, the ancient Stands of Trees are our heart and ...... one dies if its heart is destroyed!
